There are several special worship services during the year.
Ash Wednesday -
As we begin the season of Lent, we gather as a community of believers, recognizing how much we need God's promise of grace in our lives. The Imposition of Ashes is observed.
Maundy Thursday -
On the Thursday before Easter, Maundy Thursday, the St. Andrew congregation joins with the other two Presbyterian (USA) Churches in Decatur for a joint worship service. Three choirs join as one and the three clergy share pastoral leadership responsibilities. Communion is celebrated as we remember Christ's Last Supper with his disciples. Scripture is shared about Christ's last days on earth, including His arrest, His imprisonment, and His death on the cross.
Christmas Eve -
This special service on December 24 celebrates God's gift to us, our Savior Jesus Christ. Scripture and hymns tell the Christmas story as we reflect on God's love. Communion is celebrated, and candles are lit to sing "Silent Night" at the close of the service.
